In the year of 2000 I was desperately trying to get to America to study theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. For three years God said NO. The US Embassy in Bucharest denied my application for US visa. In that year even a congressman from Washington sent a fax to the US Embassy in Bucharest to let them know that he would guarantee for me that I would return to Romania after seminary and it still did not work.
God had better plans. He wanted me to be equipped for ministry in Romania. The calling He gave me was to be involved in Romania. The burden for Romania was so great that one morning when I was reading my Bible in 1998, I started crying for the lost people that will be lost for eternity without Christ, not knowing the Word of God. I was crushed in my spirit and I promised God I was ready to serve Him and to follow His calling. So two years later in 2000, not being able to go to school in America, I went to Seminary at Emmanuel Christian University in Oradea and there God gave me amazing people, such as Paul Negrut, who equipped me for ministry. The greatest blessing in my life is Adina, my wife. She is exactly what I needed for my life and for the ministry for which He called me. When I saw her, I can say that it was “love at first sight, but that was just on my side. It took me 3 years to convince her. She finally said YES and we married in 2003. Continue reading …
In 2004 I graduated the Seminary and Adina the University with a social worker degree. We made plans of going to Bucharest, the capital of Romania, to plant a church there with some experienced people that were living there. Again God said NO. It was painful. It was even more painful, because we were two people now. Instead of the most urbanized area, God sent us to a rural area, Susani, a village of 300 people. I did not want to go there. It was Adina’s home village. She asked the Lord to send here anywhere in the world, but Susani. But a few months later we were convinced that we needed to be there, though we did not like it in the beginning. It was better for us to obey than to go on our own and be miserable having what we wanted to have.
After six years of ministry we have seen amazing things that are the evidence that it was God’s perfect will for us to be in Susani. I preached the world and people came to the Lord and were saved. They were changed. We made disciples. Adina had her own group of disciples, a group of girls that were born again. Some of them were baptized, some are not allowed by their parents to take this step because they are not Christians and oppose this personal relationship with Christ expressed symbolically and publicly. Now our disciples are taking part in the responsibilities that we had 5 years ago. We continue to make other disciples. We are thrilled that some of our disciples are getting ready to go to the Emmanuel Christian University in Oradea where we were 10 years ago.
In the Susani area God gave us a ministry called the House of Joy. We bring children and teenagers from all the surrounding villages to different programs we have for them. We share with them the saving Gospel and we recruit potential disciples out of them. We have summer and winter camps. The House of Joy Association established partnerships with the public schools in the Susani area and we visit these schools which include 1st through 8th grades, give them the Gospel and Bible verses on bookmarks, we also provide sports equipment (soccer balls, volley balls, basket ball, pumps, etc). In developing this vision of evangelism and discipleship in our community, God gave us the courage and some people with whom to start building a sport and Scripture community center called the House of Joy.
We invite you to join us and Red Page Ministries in creating this better tool to approach the ministry that will impact Romania with the Word of God, the Bible, will help the kids learn English, will help them practice all kinds of sports, will connect people in our community in competitions we plan to have, will expose many to the Gospel of Christ through the camps we will have, will help the kids develop their skills in computers, will equip theologically our disciples in the conferences we plan to have, will help with the development of social work programs for orphans, widows, the poor families in the communities. And there will be so many other opportunities to see God at work in this vision.
We are excited about our partnership with Red Page Ministries in American. The purpose of this partnership is to help the House of Joy in Romania and the communities in all the villages that we target through this ministry. For the years to come, we target around 30 villages around Susani. We want to make as many communities as possible a part of our vision in Susani area. I do believe with all of my heart that the best is yet to come.
